MMC Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Program – September 15, 2017
We are excited to announce that we will be implementing a new sports medicine program to complement our orthopedic surgery program.
The goal is to serve those patients that have aches/pains and may want to see an initial non-surgical route and also a goal is to provide orthopedic coverage when Dr. Carlson is not scheduled. Aaron Wanish will be adding non-surgical orthopedic visits to his schedule.
The core team include Dr. Carlson-Orthopedic Surgeon, Aaron Wanish-Physician Assistant, Tom Silbernagel-CRNA, Mark Reinhardt-Physical Therapist, and Michael Doersch-Athletic Trainer
Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise of prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. 47 states require ATs to hold the Board of Certification credential of “Athletic Trainer, Certified” (ATC). ATs are also licensed in the state of Wisconsin by the Department of Regulation and Licensing. MMC’s Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), as part of a complete healthcare team, provides outpatient rehabilitation services in the physical therapy department, is a key member in MMC’s employee wellness committee, and provides coverage to the Neillsville School District for student-athletes among other duties. Our LAT is also a Certified Strength & Conditional Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
